If you’re into the thrill of online competitions, you’ll no doubt have heard of That Prize Guy. But if you haven’t, That Prize Guy is a UK-based competition business that, since 2019, has been offering people the chance to win amazing prizes, such as cash, cars, and luxury items.

Since its inception, That Prize Guy has awarded over £115 million in prizes and has become so popular because you can enter competitions with entries that start from as little as 50p. Be rude not to!

And with over 173,000 likes on its Facebook page, they must be doing something right.

But what makes these kinds of things so popular? We asked the Ladbible audience their thoughts on Facebook freebies and other social media giveaways to find out what draws them in.

A massive 47% of people are all over competitions, entering at least once a week or more. But it turns out the holy trinity to persuade people to click that “Enter Now” button is quite specific:

  • Chances of Winning: If the odds feel decent, we’re in.
  • Easy of Entry: No one’s got time for faff. The simpler it is to join, the better.
  • Price: If it’s low-cost or free, it’s a no-brainer.

Basically, no one wants to spill their life story just to win a toaster and if the entry fee is considered too high then that’s a hard pass for most. And if it feels like you wouldn’t have a cat in hell’s chance of winning - people aren’t bothering.

“In the last 11 months we’ve made 7 people millionaires” 👏

Still don’t know about @ThatPrizeGuy? Well we’ve taken a trip to Belfast to see up front the incredible prizes you can win every day ⚡👀
