Actor Adam Thomas has shared the heartwarming moment he told his son Teddy that he had been cast in the new series of Waterloo Road.
The school-based drama returned after an eight-year hiatus earlier this month, with the BBC show back in Manchester for the first time since 2012 after the final three series were filmed in Scotland.
Emmerdale actor Adam Thomas returns to play Donte Charles, with his in-real-life niece and son also joining him on-screen.

Scarlett Thomas - Thomas' niece and daughter of older brother Ryan - was hired to play Donte's daughter Izzi.
Meanwhile, Thomas' real-life son Teddy was cast as little Tommy.
But the part was not originally going to Teddy, as another actor was cast as Thomas' son in the Waterloo Road reboot.

However, that unnamed actor decided not to take the role, leaving Teddy the chance to join his dad in the BBC drama.
On the eve of the second episode last night, Thomas shared a clip on Instagram of the moment he told his son the exciting news.
As Thomas explained that the role had been recast, his cousin Scarlett said: "Welcome to the Waterloo Road family!"

Teddy immediately bursts into tears as he is told the news, along with the rest of the room that are delighted for the little chap.
His mum Caroline Daly asked: "Are those happy tears?" - as all the family give him a hug.
Alongside the lovely video, Thomas added a lengthy caption explaining how Teddy got the part and described how special it was to work with his close family on a TV show.
He said: "The moment we told teddy… he would be joining the cast of WATERLOO ROAD!!

"Teddy auditioned for the role of Tommy and got down to the last two actors, but they went with the other actor and I remember telling ted, and he burst out crying bless him… but that’s an actors life…some parts you get, some you don’t …a lesson he learnt early in his career.
"However a few weeks later I got a call saying they have had to recast the part of Tommy, and would love to give it to teddy!!! … this time round they were happy tears!!
"Can’t tell you how special it’s been sharing the screen with not only teddy but with @scarlettjthomas26 who is quite frankly one of the best actresses I’ve ever worked with.

The video was all too much for some people in the comment section, with one person saying
"Oh my gosh that killed me off," while another added: "What a little geezer."
