Amazon Prime 'blast to the chest' email exposed as it makes major change to viewer experience

People aren't happy with the streaming giant's latest move which comes in effect in 2024.

People aren't best pleased with Amazon Prime after reading the latest email that landed in their inbox from the streaming service after Christmas.

The web giant have ruffled a few feathers by sending out a very un-merry message warning viewers that a huge change is coming in 2024 which will drastically change their experience.

The fact your bank balance might suffer the consequences seems to be the major sticking point for most people, but Amazon Prime users simply aren't happy with the update altogether.

Although you might have been convinced to sign up to the subscription to tune into the likes of Reacher, The Boys or Jack Ryan, this key change may make you reconsider renewing it.

A host of users have already cancelled theirs after receiving the 'blast to the chest' email from Amazon informing people of the news of the alteration which is coming at the start of February - so make sure you finish that series.

It is also going to impact fans eagerly awaiting new seasons of shows, such as The Boys - because while there’s still no confirmed release date, we do know a season four is set to arrive sometime next year.

Viewers will have a much different Amazon Prime experience from next year.

Amazon Prime is following in the footsteps of Netflix and will be introducing an ad-supported tier,

Customers in the UK and Germany will have to splash out an additional £2.99 a month to enjoy their favourite TV shows and films without adverts from 5 February, 2024.

Those in the US and Canada will be seeing ads a lot sooner as they will come into force from 29 January.

Jeff Bezos' company claimed that this would ‘allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time’.

The email breaking the news to users read: "We are writing to you today about an upcoming change to your Prime Video experience. Prime Video movies and TV shows will include limited advertisements.

"This will allow us to continue investing in compelling content and keep increasing that investment over a long period of time. We aim to have meaningfully fewer ads than linear TV and other streaming TV providers."

Users received a gut-punching email about adverts being brought in.

Social media has been abuzz with conversation about the switch from ad-free and the majority of people are really quite peed off about it.

One said: "Did anyone else get this nonsense email today from Prime Video about there being commercials? But for an extra £3 you can do ad free?? Amazon, count your days!"

Another fumed: "Just got an email from Amazon Prime Video. They’re adding commercials, or I can pay more to remain ad-free. Streaming apps, their terrible service and ridiculous prices are making me want to go back to cable."

A third wrote: "Amazon Prime Video email was a shotgun blast to the chest."

A fourth joked: "I'm reporting the Amazon Prime increase email as extortion."

And a fifth added: "Received email from Amazon Prime video saying they will start including advertisements. Cancelled membership immediately."
