It’s not even been a week since Big Little Lies creator David E. Kelley’s latest rollercoaster thriller hit Netflix, but hooked viewers have already blasted through all six episodes.
Anatomy of a Scandal's twist set Twitter ablaze with disbelief over the last couple of days, and now is probably a good time to tell you that spoilers - like, really, really, enormously big ones - lie ahead.

So, if comments such as ‘OMG, so many twists and turns!’, ‘pretty wild twist’ and ‘wait, what?’ peak your interest, you’ll most certainly want to keep reading.
First up, let’s do a little scene-setting. Anatomy of a Scandal is based on a book of the same name by Sarah Vaughan and is about the scandalous nature of Britain’s political system.
The six-parter stars Rupert Friend as James Whitehouse, a Conservative MP whose affair with a researcher is making headlines.

Whitehouse’s situation is made worse when Olivia Lytton (Naomi Scott) accuses him of sexual assault.
His wife Sophie (Sienna Miller) decides to support him and stands by her husband throughout the trial, in which lawyer Kate Woodhouse (Michelle Dockery) tries to convince a jury of Whitehouse's guilt.
It’s eventually revealed that Woodhouse is not who she seems and has personal ties to Whitehouse’s case.
In a nutshell, she was sexually assaulted by Whitehouse when they were both at Oxford University in their younger years.

Traumatised, she dropped out, moved to Australia, married someone with the surname Woodcroft, divorced them, changed her first name to Kate and moved back to the UK to finish her degree in Liverpool.
Fast forward a few years and sleazebag Whitehouse’s case lands on her desk.
The twist went down a storm with viewers, with one tweeting: “Anatomy of a Scandal. The female leads Michelle Dockery & Sienna Miller carried the whole damn show.
