Dave Choe has admitted to drinking placenta smoothies in the morning, and it's safe to say viewers are grossed out.

The disgraced Beef actor has revealed that following his wife’s pregnancy, he’s taken to eating the placenta as part of his morning routine.

While he might be used to sinking his teeth into meaty roles, the Netflix star has revealed he has the organ as part of a stomach-churning morning smoothie.

Appearing on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Choe explained what goes into the gross shakes. (Don’t read if you haven’t eaten yet – you have been warned).

The Netflix star made the admission while he and the host were discussing an infamous killer, Issei Sagawa, with the Beef actor questioning whether he was a cannibal too.

“I ate my wife’s placenta,” he admitted, “The jury is out on whether it actually does anything but we’ve been doing as humans for thousands of years."

It wasn’t the only strange admission Choe made during the podcast, adding that he often asks family friends for extra placentas too.

“Any of my friends whose wives get pregnant, I go ‘hey, if you guys are gonna throw it out, I’ll take it’,” he added while smeared in red face paint, “…so I have a freezer full of human placenta.”

Unlike Hannibal Lecter, Choe doesn’t indulge with ‘some fava beans and nice Chianti’ though.

Instead, the actor and artist prepares a shake with the flesh adding two eggs (shell on), bitter melon, Manuka honey and Siberian Pine Oil.

He even added a banana with the peel and sticker on, because he ‘saw Arnold Schwarzenegger do it’.

If you are still curious about the taste, Choe openly admits the shake is disgusting and told viewers: “It tastes like s**t and I just down it.”

The actor has been widely criticised for the comment.

The actor’s morning routine has gone viral on TikTok with many shocked viewers reacting to the unappetising snack.

One viewer wrote: “Ok I can respect eating all that but why not take the sticker off.”

This comes after Choe recently hit the headlines after footage of the actor resurfaced of him making an alarming statement in which he recalled an alleged sexual assault of a massage therapist.

He claimed that he touched the female masseuse and demanded she perform a sex act on him.

Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and co-stars Steven Yeun and Ali Wong have now spoken out about the controversy, saying they do not 'condone' what he said in any way.

In a joint statement to Variety, the trio called Choe’s story 'undeniably hurtful and extremely disturbing', but said he has 'put in the work to get the mental health support he needed'.

Their statement said: “The story David Choe fabricated nine years ago is undeniably hurtful and extremely disturbing. We do not condone this story in any way, and we understand why this has been so upsetting and triggering.

"We’re aware David has apologized in the past for making up this horrific story, and we’ve seen him put in the work to get the mental health support he needed over the last decade to better himself and learn from his mistakes."

After the clip began circulating online, Choe released a statement in which he apologised for any hurt he caused, but he assured people that it was just a joke.

"I’m sorry if anyone believed that the stories were fact," he said. "They were not!"
