Anthony Mackie’s Falcon has since taken on the mantle, with Steve Rodgers leaving him the shield at the end of Avengers: Endgame.
This was explored in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw Sam Wilson grappling with the responsibility left to him by the original Cap.
By the end of the series though, he is unashamedly the new Captain America.

The film will see Harrison Ford joining the MCU in the role of Thunderbolt Ross.
The character was previously played by William Hurt, who sadly died in 2022 at the age of 71.
Marvel has been tight-lipped about whether we will finally see Thunderbolt Ross take up his alter ego from the comics of Red Hulk, though we will soon find out as the movie is set to be released just over a year from now.
Controversially, the film is also set to feature Sabra, an Israeli nationalist superhero who works for the Israeli secret service. Shira Haas will play the role.

Joining Mackie, Ford, and Haas in the cast is the returning Sebastian Stan, who will be playing the Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes.
Captain America: Brave New World will hit cinemas on 14 February, 2025.
