Netflix has dropped the first trailer for Beverly Hills Cop 4.
Yep, four whole decades on from his first outing, Eddie Murphy is back as Axel Foley.
We might not have seen the legendary Detroit cop since the third film back in 1994 but now he’s making a comeback on a new case for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

And Murphy isn’t the only one returning, Judge Reinhold will be back as Billy Rosewood, Paul Reiser as Jeffrey Friedman and Bronson Pinchot as Serge.
Netflix’s synopsis for the upcoming film reads: “Detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy) is back on the beat in Beverly Hills.

“After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.”
The movie won’t be landing on Netflix until the summer of 2024, so we’ve still got a bit of time to wait – making it nearly a full 40 years since the first film hit cinemas.
Kevin Bacon will also feature in the new film, as well as Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer told Netflix’s Tudum: “Eddie's such an incredible artist. He can do drama, he can do comedy – he can do anything. And he’s the same Axel Foley.
“He’s still on the streets. He’s still doing what he does. Obviously with age you get wiser. But he still has the twinkle in his eye.”
Apparently, some of the ‘funniest’ moments in the new Beverly Hills Cop: Alex F are when Murphy is improvising.
Bruckheimer added: “For me, a big part of my job was to create the right environment, cast the right people around Eddie to allow him to do what he does best.”

But others pointed out: “Hard to beat the original mind. Very hard.”
It’ll be good news for some who write: “Serge better be in it!”
And many begged Netflix: “Please don’t wreck this,” and: “Please don’t f**k this up!”
