Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont are no strangers to making jokes, given they've made millions through their comedy.
But it was no laughing matter when the duo sadly announced their separation and pending divorce in early 2024 after nine years of marriage.
Given their background, though, the brutal nature of the jokes they once said to each other on the record have proved to come true as a result of them going their separate ways.

Away from the likes of 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown, Richardson and Beaumont teamed up for their own TV show based on their life.
Dubbed Meet the Richardsons, the mockumentary gave us a behind-the-scenes take on life for the comedic duo as they discussed it as satirical, fictionalised versions of themselves.
It includes a tonne of guests stars across its five seasons, as well as Christmas specials, with the likes of Johnny Vegas forming a romantic relationship with Beaumont's own mother.

Other celebs featuring in it are Jason Donovan, Rob Beckett, Alan Carr, Anton Du Beke, and Russell Howard. It's definitely worth a watch, albeit a little sad since their split.
Separating earlier this year, the duo shared a joint statement in which they said they had made the ‘difficult’ decision ‘jointly and amicably’.
The pair added: “As our only priority is managing this difficult transition for our daughter, we would ask that our privacy is respected at this sensitive time to protect her well-being."

Since then, the pair have not discussed their divorce in public. But in a recent interview about discussing so much of their private life on TV, including on Meet the Richardsons, Beaumont told The Sunday Times: “I don't regret anything. But equally, over this next stage I am very much keeping my personal life personal.
“I sometimes feel guilty that I talked about my daughter and my marriage, and my mum and my dad."
Jokes made on Meet the Richardsons have now sadly echoed real life, with Richardson himself making a brutal one way back in the pilot.
Speaking in the very first episode from 2020, Beaumont jokes about not knowing how much her husband was worth. At the time, he was arguable a larger household name, given his longer career in TV.

Googling his net worth, Richardson now ominously replies by saying she can 'divorce me' to find out.
"Divorce me. Let the lawyers find out," he jokes.
It's not the only time the couple have self-deprecated when it came to the issue of splitting up, with another clip from the programme showing Richardson ask Beaumont if she wants anything from his trip to Boots.

Replying, she says: "A divorce?"
Richardson responds by saying: "I'll see if they do them in Boots. I imagine they're kept near the Anusol.
And on an episode of Eight Out Of Ten Cats Does Countdown, one segment shows Jimmy Carr introduced team captain Jon to the viewers and his team, which also included Lucy.
Carr quipped: "Lucy and Jon are married. So I know Lucy, everyone watching at home is dying to know... what made you decide to settle?"
Beaumont then joked: "I don't see this for life."
Carr continued to stir the pot: "Just passing through?"
She continued: "You meet in your life old souls, new souls... a***holes."
She then said: "Who knows what will happen in the future."
Jon asked: "Are you breaking up now?"
In her recent interview with The Sunday Times, Beaumont confirmed the pair are still still going through the divorce and cannot speak about it directly on instruction from her legal team.
