Fans emotional after realising Stranger Things co-star officiated Millie Bobby Brown’s wedding

Fans emotional after realising Stranger Things co-star officiated Millie Bobby Brown’s wedding

The wedding was officiated by a co-star of hers

Millie Bobby Brown tied the knot this week with Jake Bongiovi, but fans were emotional after realising the actor had the ceremony officiated by one of her co-stars from Stranger Things.

Bobby Brown married Bongiovi, the son of legendary rock singer Jon Bon Jovi, in a small private ceremony yesterday (October 2), just over a year after getting engaged.

Brown announced the news on Instagram yesterday with a post captioned: “forever and always, your wife.”

Bongiovi also posted with the caption: “Forever and always, your husband.”

Fans were emotional, however, after realising that the ceremony was carried out by a familiar face.

Matthew Modine officiated, the actor who played her ‘Papa’ in the hit Netflix show.

Modine plays a doctor who gave Brown’s Eleven her powers by experimenting on her.

He said of the wedding: “I have one of the licences to get people married and Millie thought it'd be great and Jake said it'd be a great idea.

"So I wrote the wedding vows, and they loved what I wrote for them to join hands and become husband and wife."

Fans on Twitter were emotional when they found out the news, and saw photos of the wedding showing him officiating.

One tweeted: "not her evil papa doing the ultimate good for her in real life," as another said: "This is so emotional I remember eleven being a kid like yesterday and now she’s married."

A third posted: "Awww, a full circle moment, this is so cute and she looks absolutely beautiful."

The pair share a close friendship, with the Enola Holmes actress having said in a 2022 interview with Tudum: "Papa and Eleven have such an intimate relationship, so we needed to be able to bond to portray that... it was just a true, real friendship."

Speaking on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last year, Brown said she almost lost her engagement ring to Bongiovi she was so excited when he proposed.

She said: “He puts the ring on my hand and as I go to show him, the ring falls off my finger, plummets, like, so fast, it was like a cinematic movie.

"Jake threw himself so deep, the diver was like: 'You can't do that! Your ears! Literally, your brain will explode!'

“He throws himself. He does a cinematic grab, opens, and he saved the ring."

Bongiovi’s rock star dad Jon Bon Jovi said: "They’re great, they’re absolutely fantastic. It was a very small family wedding. The bride looked gorgeous and Jake is as happy as can be. Yeah it’s true."
