The internet has been collectively clowning on the Dune popcorn bucket, so naturally Ryan Reynolds has joined in.
Fresh off trolling his wife at the Super Bowl, Reynolds has now set his sights on the marketing for Denis Villeneuve's sci-fi sequel.
If you're wondering what all the fuss is about, a promotional popcorn bucket was released by AMC cinemas for the upcoming release of sci-fi blockbuster Dune: Part Two.

Check out the trailer:
A major feature of Dune are the mighty sand worms which roam the desert planet of Arrakis, which can prey on unsuspecting souls who do not know how to survive in the sand.
They also provide the inspiration for the FatBoy Slim lyric 'walk without rhythm and it won't attract the worm' in the song 'Weapon of Choice'.

Funnily enough, Christopher Walken appeared in the music video for that song and he's going to be appearing in Dune: Part Two.
Alright, I've put this off long enough, the reason so many people are talking about the popcorn bucket is because it's meant to look like the gaping maw of a sand worm but it also looks like... something else.
Some internet folks reckon the popcorn bucket also accidentally resembles a fleshlight, a sex toy for men to insert their ding-a-ling into.

There are those who think the Dune marketers know what they're doing as what we'll term the 'Dune popcorn bucket sex toy' discourse is essentially free publicity for the movie.
Quite who is planning on seeing a sequel movie because the promotional popcorn bucket handed out by one cinema chain looks like a fleshlight is unclear, and perhaps it would be best for it to remain so.
However, Ryan Reynolds has decided that now is the perfect time to insert himself into the discourse by referencing it in a promo for his upcoming movie.

Reynolds has been working on the superhero film Deadpool & Wolverine, with a trailer appearing at the Super Bowl.
The actor shared a picture of a friendship necklace of the two characters to promote the movie and captioned it: "Wait till you see the Deadpool popcorn bucket."
Frankly that seems like a prime opportunity for some incredibly unwholesome merchandise and Deadpool fans are lapping it up.

One said that Reynold's joke was 'funnier than the entire new trailer they just dropped' as fans anticipated the ungodly things the movie star might do to an innocent novelty bucket of popcorn.
Others wanted to know exactly what he meant by his tweet, but it's really better not to know in these cases
Dune: Part Two releases in cinemas in the UK on 1 March, while Deadpool & Wolverine is set to release in July.
