Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney save local business after owner had stock robbed

The Hollywood duo donated the full GoFundMe target to save the trainer revival shop

While Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney could be praised with ‘saving’ the Wrexham football team, they’ve also been helping in the local community.

The Hollywood duo are of course now the owners of Wrexham A.F.C in Wales.

Reynolds and McElhenney’s ownership and journey with the football club is even the centre of the documentary series on Disney+, Welcome to Wrexham.

The actors bought the club back in 2020 and in April of this year, the team was promoted to the EFL League Two after 15 long years.

While the Canadian and American may be primarily based in the states, the pair do spent a lot of time over here and seem relatively popular with a lot of Wrexham.

And it’s no surprise they’re so popular, being so generous with the locals.

Reynolds and McElhenney stepped up to save the business of a Wrexham supporter after they had their stock robbed.

In September of this year, Tapp moved the service into a brand-new shop in Wrexham city centre where he also sells clothes and Wrexham A.F.C memorabilia.

However, in late October, his place was broken into and £7,000 worth of stock was stolen.

Tapp shared a message to Facebook when he found his shop ‘turned over by some f**king scumbags’.

He wrote: “The shop has been smashed up along with thousands of pounds worth of stock gone. It’s completely broken me to the point whether I’m not sure I’m going to open again.”

But the local community and his customers rallied around to help Tapp.

A GoFundMe page was set up for Wrexham Trainer Revival and the two football club owners donated the full £3,500 target to help save the bloke’s business.

Over on X, he thanked the pair for their generosity.

Tapp wrote: “@RMcElhenney and @VancityReynolds have literally saved my business and I’ll be forever grateful. If you only knew what that donation has meant to my life.”

US-based Wrexham fans even donated to the GoFundMe page, with a whopping £8,310 raised from 197 donations.

The business owner also shared a snap of his son with McElhenney at a match, writing: “Also thanks for the time you spent with my youngest, he was absolutely buzzing afterwards.”

One user replied: “Brilliant news isn’t it! These guys just making #Wrexham even better.

“Bringing communities together as well as our football team.”
