An NFL and Super Bowl legend went as far as saying he would divorce his wife if he wrongly predicted the winner of the biggest match in the American football calendar.
With Super Bowl LIX taking place on Sunday (9 February) in New Orleans, millions of people will be wagering on who they think will win the game as well as other options such as the Super Bowl MVP, first touchdown scorer, and how many points will be scored.
For 2025, there are even special bets for halftime show performer Kendrick Lamar, particularly on whether he will make reference to his ongoing public feud with Canadian rapper Drake.
This year's event will see the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs battle it out for the Lombardi Trophy, with the Eagles looking for revenge over their loss to the Chiefs back in 2023.

On the flip side, Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs are looking to win three Lombardis in a row; the fabled sporting 'three-peat' enjoyed by sporting legacies such as the 1990s Chicago Bulls and early 2000s Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA.
It was ahead of last year's Super Bowl that NFL legend Chad Johnson made the bet relating to the winner of the event, putting his marriage on the line if he got it wrong.

47-year-old Johnson, known as Ochocinco for his playing number 85, was so confident about a Chiefs victory in 2024 that he said he was willing to risk his wife, sex, and McDonald's if he got his bets for the game wrong.

A six time Pro Bowler who played in Super Bowl XLVI back in 2011, he was one of the most popular players of his era during his NFL playing days that spanned from 2001 to 2012.
Speaking to Bleacher Report Betting ahead of last February's event, he said: "If the Chiefs lose, I won't eat McDonald's anymore. Ever."

He went on to say: "Matter of fact, if the Chiefs lose, I'll divorce my wife and no more sex for the rest of the year.

"That's how confident I am."
The Chiefs won - but only just.
With the game tied at 22 a piece at the end of regulation time, the Super Bowl went to overtime.
This was only the second time this has ever happened in the history of the NFL.

Thankfully, for Johnson's sake, the Chiefs won the game with a touchdown after Mahomes threw to wide receiver Mecole Hardman.
It saw Mahomes secure his third Super Bowl MVP alongside his third Super Bowl ring.
You can breathe for now, Ochocinco.
