Craig David has revealed that he’s been celibate for a ‘year or so’, so that he’s in a healthy place for his next relationship. So no more making love by Wednesday and on Thursday and Friday and Saturday for this guy.
The singer sat down on The Louis Theroux Podcast, where he spoke openly about the issues he’d faced when in relationships in the past and how he was hoping to stop himself from making similar mistakes in the future.
The 42-year-old explained to Louis that in the past he’d mainly settled for short-term relationships, but that they ultimately left him unfulfilled, which prompted him to go on a bit of a dating detox, where he’s ‘reined the whole thing back’ in regard to his love life.

He explained: “I realised that me not having healed my own issues meant I was never in a position to be open to someone else. So I realised I had to pull back from all of this and this has been the past couple of years really.
“Which does mean not outwardly going on dates, the sexual interactions are going to have to stop now, just cut that off.”
When Louis asked if that meant that he’d been abstaining from a sex for a while, he replied: “For quite a while now. Maybe a year or so.” Which seems like a pretty big change for a bloke whose first album was titled 'Born To Do It'.

Craig admitted that in the past he had focussed a bit too much on the ‘aesthetic’ of a relationship, but going forward he was hoping for something with a bit more substance and a ‘real connection’ with a future partner.
He went on: “I’ve realised that the energetic exchange between two people is so powerful that unless the two of you are on such a level, you don’t need saving here, you don’t need to heal me and I don’t need to heal you, and we’re both meeting people at a good and healthy place, that’s the start of a relationship.
“I need a real relationship now, this is not about looking beautiful, this is not about the aesthetics.”

He went on to say that he wants to find someone he can have ‘great deep conversations’ with, as well as being able to ‘laugh like crazy’ and enjoy ‘amazing sex’ - so you’re not asking for much then, mate?
