Inside Disney's 'secret club' after couple spend £300,000 in legal fees trying to get back in after being kicked out

Inside Disney's 'secret club' after couple spend £300,000 in legal fees trying to get back in after being kicked out

The decor might not be what you'd expect from Disney

You may have heard by now about a Disney-loving couple who got kicked out of a very exclusive club and have spent a fortune trying to get back in.

Disneyland superfans Scott and Diana Anderson have spent somewhere in the region of $400,000 (about £300,000) on a lawsuit to try and get back into Disney's Club 33.

Back in 2017, the couple had their $31,000 (23,600) a year membership of the highly exclusive club revoked over allegations of public drunkenness.

They deny this is the case, saying they might have had some wine and beer but claiming that Scott was suffering from a vestibular migraine, which was mistaken for being drunk.

Public drunkenness gets you expelled from membership of Club 33, however, they launched a lawsuit against Disney seeking money for unused membership time and a hefty fee for compensation over the years they've spent on the club's blacklist.

Last week, the couple lost their lawsuit as a judge ruled that Disney had the right to ban them from their VIP clubs.

Scott said the cost had set his retirement back five years, while Diana claimed she'd 'sell a kidney' to appeal the decision.

As for what it's like inside this very exclusive and sort of secret club, the number of pictures that can be taken inside Club 33 are limited and guests filming is not allowed.

While photos of what it looks like inside are limited, there are some images which show that Club 33 goes for antique furniture and a more classic look than you might expect from Disney.

According to Snopes, Walt Disney got the idea for the club after visiting the 1964 World Fair where he was impressed by the executive lounges set up there.

However, he would not live to see Club 33 completed as he died several months before it opened, but his idea for an 'elegant' club with an 'exclusive setting' ended up attracting plenty of interest.

The club isn't so secret these days, particularly not when the internet can bring you so much information, but that doesn't mean getting in and having a look for yourself would be easy.

There's a limited number of club members and getting to join their number would cost money - and still not guarantee a place.

It could be a long wait to get accepted, and that's if you manage to pass a background check.

Once you're in you'd better follow the rules, otherwise you might find the doors of Club 33 closed to you.
