A podcast host has received backlash for his controversial views on why men shouldn't watch their kids be born.
Internet personality Elijah Schaffer, from Los Angeles, became a dad in March 2023 and has a second child on the way.
He's the host of a podcast called Slightly Offensive and that's exactly how some have felt on social media.

Taking to X last week, the journalist shared a photo of a woman giving birth in a hospital bed.
The image posted showed a man holding the foot of the mother of his children with a worrying look on his face as their baby was being delivered.
Schaffer then suggested that perhaps men shouldn't be in the room when their child is being born.

Alongside the image, he wrote: "Unpopular Opinion: I do not think men should watch the baby come out of their wife like this.
"Totally can ruin sex lives and poorly change dynamics of seduction etc between spouses.
"Seen more harm than good come out of this. We need stricter gender divides. Stop doing this."

Unsurprisingly, the tweet was met with plenty of backlash, with one person commenting: "Huh? Seeing your child born is not traumatising, it's amazing.
"I've played catch for three kids and it hasn't changed anything except increased my love for my wife who went through incredible sacrifice to bring our kids into the world."
A second added: "Idk man, if you can’t watch your kid be born then maybe you aren’t cut out for fatherhood.
"Watched my little one come out and it was kinda cool and interesting. Doc even let me cut the umbilical cord.

"Sex life with the wife is unchanged as well."
As someone else said: "Depends on how you view your wife and childbirth. I am amazed at how God created women’s bodies to bring new life into the world and was in awe of watching my children be born.
"My wife is not a sex object, she is my wife, mother of our children, and will always be beautiful."

Another also thought: "I disagree, that moment is what separates boys from men.
"Watching it made me increase the amount of respect for my wife due to work and pain she endured to get to that moment and looking into my kid’s eyes for the first time was absolutely priceless."
LADbible Group has contacted Elijah Schaffer for comment.
