Elliot John Gleave, who is better known by his stage name, Example, is a singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer.
The story behind his stage name is that his initials are E.G which is also used as an abbreviation of the Latin phrase ‘exempli gratia’ that means ‘for example’.

Besides his unusual choice in name, Example is a man of much acclaim and can be attributed to his top 10 singles, which include ‘Won’t Go Quietly’, ‘Kickstarts’, and the number 1 hit, ‘Changed the Way You Kiss Me’.
He soared to fame in the summer of 2010 and has continued to successfully produce chart topping tunes.
In May this year he announced the release of his eighth album, We May Grow Old But We Never Grow Up and a tour which has already sold over 25,000 tickets.
This tour will include France and Spain as well as multiple venues in the UK including the festival circuit with forerunners Latitude, Creamfields and the Bestival.

He was born in Hammersmith, London and is known to suffer from Aspergers Syndrome, Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
He first discovered hip hop through albums by Wu-Tang Clan and Snoop Dog. From here he was enthralled by rap and used it as a way to fit in at school.
Example went on to pursue a media degree at Royal Holloway and upon graduation met Joseph Gardner who later became his producer.
He now lives in Brisbane, Australia with his wife, the actress and model Erin McNaught and their two children.
