After the first trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder was released yesterday, fans have been queuing up to mention how ‘jacked’ Natalie Portman looks. You can have a look at Portman’s transformation by watching the trailer below.
Given that the film is all about Chris Hemsworth’s Thor – the Aussie actor is making his ninth appearance as Marvel’s chief Viking – you might be forgiven for thinking that a bit at the end of the trailer would pass everyone by unnoticed.

You’d be wrong though.
Much of the early attention that has been devoted to the trailer has been to do with the size of Natalie Portman’s arms, and you have to admit she does look like she’s been hitting the gym like a tonne of bricks.
Portman is returning to the role of Jane Foster after taking a bit of time out from the franchise.
She first appeared in 2011, before turning up again in the 2013 sequel Thor: The Dark World.

Then, she missed out on Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 because – as she said – it wouldn’t have been right for her character to turn up in space, and that’s where much of the film is set.
However, rumours were rife at the time that Portman had been unhappy at some creative differences, which may have played a part in her not appearing in the movie.
We’ll probably never know on that front.

Still, she’s back now, and fans are happy to see her looking in seriously good physical condition.
One said: "Natalie Portman is JACKED!!! Holy moly,"
Another wrote: "Is it just me or did Natalie Portman get completely jacked?"
A third commented: “Appreciation tweet for Natalie Portman’s arms in Thor: Love and Thunder.”

And so on and so forth.
To be fair, this is just Portman following through on a promise to ‘get jacked’ for the film.
The 40-year-old explained on Instagram that she was planning to physically size up for the role, and told Yahoo in October 2020: "I can't tell you that much. I'm really excited.
“I'm starting to train, to get muscles.

“If there can be all these female superheroes, the more of them they are, the better it is."
Thor: Love and Thunder will see a number of MCU stars returning to their roles, including Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star Lord.
We’ll also see Christian Bale take on the villain mantle, playing Gorr the God Butcher, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie.
The film is due out in cinemas worldwide on 8 July 2022.
