After Barbie hit cinemas earlier this month, everyone seems to be feeling the Kenergy!

But despite this, there have been rumours that not all is well in Barbieland after an awkward red-carpet moment was spotted between two Kens - aka Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu - with the latter addressing the incident on social media.

Speculation began last month, whilst Ryan Gosling and Simu Liu posed for pictures during a Barbie press day in Canada.

As they walked the red, or rather pink carpet, Gosling seemingly brushed Liu off as he went in for a hug.

In front of the world’s press, the Shang-Chi actor reached towards his co-star – who abruptly muttered something under his breath and seemingly brushed Liu off.

Understandably, he quickly moved away and can even be heard saying: "Oh, it’s too tender? Fair," before rapidly putting his hands in his pockets. (Ouch!)

Even more awkwardly, the pair then continued to pose looking more than a little poe-faced.

Though fans might be fearing the worst, Liu has put an end to the rumours with a lengthy Instagram story.

Sharing a photo of them on Instagram, the 34-year-old spoke about his Canadian co-star: “I’d beach off with this Kenadian again in a heartbeat.”

“He is the best human in every way, especially when he jokes around with us on the carpet and on set, infecting all of us with his Kenergy.”

The actor cleared things up on Instagram.

He then added: “Now let’s get back to the issues that matter, like supporting our striking actors and writers fighting for fair wages!”

Here’s hoping they aren’t play-acting, as Mattel have teased a potential toy-based cinematic universe.

The company, which owns the iconic doll, have lined up 14 more films centred around its other brands, which include: Barney, Polly Pocket and UNO. (Yes, really!)

If that weren’t enough, CEO Ynon Kreiz has also said there is potential for Barbie sequels following its huge success at the box office.

The CEO told Variety: “Barbie, as a brand, has many different iterations.

Could a Barbie sequel happen?
Warner Bros.

"The product lines of Barbie is a very broad brand. In addition to the main Barbie figure, she has family, she has a lot of elements around in her universe.”

“It’s a very rich universe… It’s a very broad and very elastic brand, in terms of opportunities.”

Whilst Kreiz wouldn’t confirm that a sequel would happen, he did hint that the company was eager for a franchise.

Continuing, he added: “Successful movies lend themselves to more movies... Our ambition is to create film franchises.”

Come on Barbie, let's go party!
