Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool & Wolverine left him most 'depressed' he's been walking off film set

Ryan Reynolds says Deadpool & Wolverine left him most 'depressed' he's been walking off film set

Ryan Reynolds has returned to play anti-hero Deadpool in the latest Marvel flick

It seems that Ryan Reynolds has really enjoyed playing his favourite anti-hero for a third time as Deadpool & Wolverine promises to be one heck of a combination.

After years of trying to get the film over the line, we finally got a look at the red costume when the first Deadpool hit our screens in 2016, which was then followed by a successful sequel in 2018.

And now, the 47-year-old has finally joined forced with Wolverine star Hugh Jackman, all while the pair appear to enjoy ripping into each other on social media.

The duo's friendship of almost 20 years has been there for everyone to see and last month, they made a candid admission about mental health - before being silly again.

"Oh mate, you've been pretty open with your anxiety struggles, which I really applaud you for," Jackman, 55, told his co-star in an interview with People.

"You're constantly, 'What if this happens? What if that happens?' You're always telling yourself stories," Reynolds replied.

"So when we're shooting Deadpool & Wolverine, I'm not just shooting the movie, I'm also sitting in the audience as a cautious critic going, 'I don't like that. I don't buy that.'

"So anxiety creates that ecosystem of awareness that I wouldn't otherwise [have]."

That's when Jackman said: "I really applaud you for it. I think it takes courage to speak about it and it's helped a lot of people because a lot of people come up to me talking about you."

He then joked: "And I say shut up I'm not interested, but they keep talking about you."

Reynolds almost laughed off his chair as the pair shared a hilarious moment.

Meanwhile, Reynolds has since spoke about how he's felt 'more free' playing the character than 'almost anything else in the world'.

He told PA News Agency: “Deadpool is one of those characters who’s very unpredictable.

“I don’t know if I could speak specifically to that style, other than to say that I feel more free when I play the character than almost anything else in the world.

“I recognise how rare that air is to breathe. And on our last day of shooting, I don’t think I’ve ever been more sad or depressed to be walking off of a film set every day.”

The Australian actor also said: “For me, having played this character for 24 years, there’s whole sides of Wolverine you’ve never seen before in this movie.

“These guys wrote it so beautifully and carefully. And I can tell you, fans are going to dig it.

“There’s some stuff I’ve been scratching around for a long time to try and solve, and we solve it here.”

Deadpool & Wolverine will drop in cinemas from 25 July.
