Watching the Gladiator 2 trailer, I’m sure we all had so many emotions, with the film looking absolutely incredible.
Paul Mescal, Pedro Pascal, Denzel Washington, Connie Nielsen, Joseph Quinn, the list of incredible stars in this film just goes on and on and on.
If you’re like me, however, you thought one specific thing when watching the trailer.

“Oh god I’m not ready to see Pedro Pascal in a colosseum.” (Yes, Pascal may not have died in Game of Thrones in a colosseum per say, stop being pedantic).
For those not in the know, Pascal rose to prominence as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, a charismatic and sexy smooth talker whose sole goal was to kill Lannister henchman The Mountain.
This opportunity was handed to him in the form of a trial by combat representing Tyrion Lannister.

As many of us know, it did not end well.
Namely, The Mountain popped his eyes right out of his skull.
Whilst he may be playing a villainous Roman general in this film, with Paul Mescal playing a heroic gladiator hellbent on revenge against him, I still don’t think I can see his eyes being popped out of his head again.

One thing that fans have noticed, however, is that he doesn’t seem to have learnt his lesson from that fateful encounter.
A fan on X (formerly known as Twitter) said: “Why is pedro not wearing a helmet?? didn't he learn from his GOT days."
Another said: “Pedro still not wearing a helmet in an arena” with a facepalm emoji.
One fan posted a depressed GIF with the caption: “Watching Pedro Pascal go into another arena battle once again with no helmet."

Whilst he may not be getting his eyes poked in again in Gladiator 2 (though we never know), Game of Thrones isn’t the only time the actor has had his eyes poked in.
The Last of Us and Narcos star has previously stated that the grisly death scene meant that fans always had one specific request when they took a picture with him early on.
He told The Hollywood Reporter: “I remember, earlier on, because of Game of Thrones and the way my character died… people were super into taking selfies with their thumbs in my eyes.

"At first, I was so earnest and happy about the success of the character in the show, I'd let them!
“Then I remember getting a bit of an eye infection.”
The fact he ever let anyone do that is sweet enough if you ask me.
Here’s hoping another wave of those pictures don’t happen because his character in Gladiator 2 doesn’t look prepared for another eye poking incident…
