With this being the first official week of December, the attention of many will be turning to Christmas.
That means frantically running around to find Christmas presents, being forced to listen to a now-unfrosted Mariah Carey on repeat, and of course – whacking on Home Alone.
The festive classic has spawned several sequels, with one involving the wet bandits and Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin.

Neither the Wet Bandits nor Kevin have returned for any of the frankly awful sequels past Home Alone 2 - and in total, the franchise is now made up of six films.
Maybe Donald Trump’s appearance in the second film cursed the franchise forever.
Alas, that hasn’t stopped fans from imagining a world in which we get Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern back as the Wet Bandits.

One popular YouTube video made by creator VJ4Rawr2 imagines a world in which we get a McCallister family reunion.
The YouTuber imagines a Home Alone 2025 in which Kevin and his brothers take on the Wet Bandits again.
They cut together clips of the actor who played Buzz, Devin Ratray, as an adult, as well as having his girlfriend we only see a picture of in the film played by Melissa McCarthy.
In addition to that, they use clips of Kieran Culkin, who went on to star in HBO’s Succession, and is a favourite to compete for a Supporting Actor nomination with Denzel Washington.

He’s come a long way since playing the bed-wetting Fuller McAllister.
Add to that Macauley Culkin coming back as Kevin, and Catherine O'Hara as Kate Mcallister, and it would be a dream film.
As I hope I’ve made clear throughout however, this isn’t actually happening.
In a 2018 Ask Me Anything thread on Reddit, Macaulay Culkin said when asked about the possibility of returning for a Home Alone follow-up: "Nah, bro."

Add to this the fact that Kieran Culkin is now starring in critically acclaimed award-winning films and shows, and it’s unlikely he will come back.
The actor even said that he wouldn’t let his kids watch the film, telling E News: “There’s still some scary parts.
“For the 3-year-old, there’s the tarantula [and] there’s the guy at the end who said, ‘I’m gonna bite off all your fingers.’ That’s scary for a 3-year-old.

“We think they might be ready for 'Home Alone' this year, if not, next year.”
He went on to say regarding how famous it made his brother overnight: “Even at that time, as a kid, I remember thinking, ‘That sucks for him,’ poor f**king guy. He was little and having to try to accept that level of fame as reality.”
