Lindsay Lohan’s newest romcom may be number two on Netflix right now, but fans aren’t convinced.
Usually, a film being in the top one or two on the streamer’s rankings would mean fans are loving it, but in the case of this newest addition that clearly isn’t true.
The Netflix movie sees the Hollywood star in Ireland, where she is the bridesmaid for her best friend getting engaged to the love of her life.

She wishes it was her marrying him instead, and rom-com tropes aplenty ensue.
The film is called Irish Wish, and despite the combined elements of Lohan, Ireland, and wacky romcom concept all sounding great – most people seem to be in agreement that they aren't a fan.

In the Facebook group Netflix Bangers, one fan posted: “Ugh I struggled watching this. Has some of my favourite actors in it, but it was so poorly written and was not well executed at all.”

Another agreed, saying: “It was boring and predictable.”
With an abysmal 36 percent on Rotten Tomatoes with critics, and 41 percent for the audience score, this appears to be a rare occasion where fans and reviewers are in agreement on a film.
A review in The Guardian ripped into the film, stating ‘no cliche is left unturned’ in its one-star review.

The Sunday Times’ review was similarly critical, saying: “Irish Wish is an excellent advertisement for a variety of Irish touchstones. But, as a film, it’s as dumb as a box of rocks.”
Others had a very specific criticism, saying it was just a jumbled together version of other rom-coms.
One viewer compared Irish Wish to 27 Dresses and Leap Year, posting on X: “Is #IrishWish basically 27 Dresses with a Leap Year filter on it? Yes, it is!”

Vanity Fair described the film as a ‘Frankenstein’s Monster of Better Romantic Comedies’, echoing the idea that it is basically if you took 27 Dresses, plopped it in Ireland with all the stolen charm of Leap Year, and made the writing infinitely worse.
The hate is not universal however, as some members of the Netflix Bangers group thinks the criticism is too much.
One poster commented saying: “Very cute rom com movie! I couldn't get over how good Lindsey looked! She was glowing and looks so healthy.”
Variety posted one of the few positive reviews, saying: “The movie is as frothy as the foam on a pint of Guinness, as formulaic as the last disposable Netflix rom-com. Yet these two make you believe that they belong together, and not every romantic comedy does that.”
