Just over a couple of years ago, film producer Barbara Broccoli said it would be 'at least two years' before they started filming the next James Bond movie.
Right now it doesn't sound like they've started filming whatever that movie will be, largely because they don't yet seem to have a 007 to star in it.
However, we are likely to have entered the zone where it's now acceptable to start working on the next stage of the franchise without stepping on the toes of Daniel Craig and No Time To Die.

Those of you who saw that movie will know that Craig is very definitely not coming back for another one, and even people who didn't might have heard the actor's consistent stance on wanting to part ways with Bond.
With one Bond gone, it's time to do something the series has done plenty of times before: find a new leading man to slip on the tuxedo and shoot bad guys.
The big question is who that's going to be, and if you look at the odds it seems as though Aaron Taylor-Johnson is the bookies' favourite.

He's been asked about becoming the next 007 quite a lot and while he's said the link is 'flattering' he's also been making sure to 'stay grounded' as he knows the insanity that lies within getting carried away by such rumours.
Other popular prospects include Henry Cavill, Damson Idris, James Norton and Regé-Jean Page, though the list of people who have odds on them to become Bond is pretty damn long.
According to the Metro, one of the actors who has surged up the list in recent times is Netflix star Jonathan Bailey, who Bridgerton fans will know as Viscount Anthony from season two.

They report that bookies at Coral betting reckon his chances of becoming Bond have surged from 10/1 to 4/1, which means he's seen as more likely to get the role than he used to be.
That'd put him among the frontrunners to be the next 007, though Aaron Taylor-Johnson is still out in front.
The next casting of Bond is supposed to be 'a reinvention' of the iconic film character, as Broccoli told Deadline a couple of years ago.

Let's face it, James Bond has been reinvented several times on the big screen, as while there are some things inherent to the character, he was pretty different with each new actor.
Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig may all have played 007, but each one had their own specific traits.
Whomever the next James Bond is, they will have their own take on the character, and while we'll see sprinkles of what the previous actors brought to the table, there'll surely be something new in the mix.
Here's to whenever the new James Bond is announced, and the inevitable complaining that'll follow.
