Emily Blunt has opened up about the rough times she put her Oppenheimer co-star Cillian Murphy through both on and off-camera.
The 40-year-old star has been nominated for a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role of Kitty Oppenheimer - the wife of Murphy’s character J Robert Oppenheimer.
Alongside Blunt’s nomination, Oppenheimer is in the running for a slew of Oscars, including the coveted Best Picture, Best Supporting Actor for Robert Downey Jr. and Best Actor for Murphy.

And it seems Murphy was more than happy to suffer for his art, with Blunt recently telling the Sun that she slapped him about the face so much his cheekbone took a bit of a battering.
Apologising to her co-star, she told the publication: “Sorry about your cheekbone Cillian.
"Poor Cillian. Chris went, ‘Hit him’. And I was like, ‘I don’t know’.

“And Cillian was like, ‘Do it, do it’. Chris was like, ‘He’ll be fine . . . do it’.
“I slapped him then I grabbed him, by the neck really, by the collar.
"I just saw over the course of, like, ten takes that very famous cheekbone became even more prominent — and it’s not even in the movie.”
Ouch.

And that’s not even the worst of it - Blunt went on to explain that she decided to buy her co-star a thoughtful gift ahead of filming, but that good deed soon went badly wrong, requiring poor Murphy to have his 'glued' back together. Not ideal, eh?
Revealing she decided to buy him a 'fantastic' pillow, she went on: "He’s going to kill me for telling this story.
“I was very concerned about Cillian’s sleep when we started shooting because I felt he had a monumental undertaking with this role.

"I thought, like, that’s a good start-of-shoot gift.
“He told me he woke up in the middle of the night and he was so thrilled to fluff himself back to sleep on the pillow, that he sort of threw his head down back on to it and smashed his head open on the bedside table.
“He was luxuriating in it so much he smashed his head open.
"So he came to set and they had to glue his head shut, all because of the pillow.”

And if all that wasn’t bad enough, she also touched upon a parting gift Murphy gave her of a bottle she ‘almost killed him with’ during filming of another particularly violent scene.
Murphy has certainly earned himself this Oscar nomination, hasn’t he?
