Last night's Oscars turned out to be a very good night for Emma Stone, as not only did she take home her second Academy Award for Best Actress, she also got some mic-time with Ryan Gosling.
Stone, 35, received the prestigious award for her starring role in Poor Things.
The film had also been in the running for Best Picture, but lost out to Oppenheimer.
But as if taking the big prize wasn't enough, Stone also managed to make an appearance in one of the night's musical numbers.

Given how much it has dominated pop culture in the last year or so, I can't imagine it'll take much guessing for you to surmise what song was being performed.
Why, yes, it was 'I'm Just Ken' from the acclaimed Barbie movie.
Ryan Gosling was looking pretty in pink as he took to the stage alongside dozens of dancers.
As the Canadian actor passed into the crowd, he decided it was high time for some audience participation.

And at one point, he stopped by Stone - dressed in an aquamarine dress - and held the mic to her mouth.
Fortunately, the Easy A star wasn't easily flustered and kept the song going, belting: "And so am I."
Gosling then continued on with the performance, much to the delight of his Hollywood peers and the viewers at home.

But this interaction - as delightful as it was - left some viewers with a mystery on their hands.
Why did Gosling go to Stone specifically to complete the song?
There were tons of actors in the audience that night who could have chipped in to his performance and shared some of their own Kenergy, so why Stone?
Well, some fans have surmised that this performance was a callback to Gosling and Stone's previous collaboration.

I am, of course, referring to La La Land, which was released in 2016 and made a splash at the Oscars.
By splash, I mean it was incorrectly awarded the Best Picture award. Oops.
Anyhow, Gosling and Stone delighted on-screen and shared many musical moments together.

But this did not translate to the Oscars stage, and there was no La La Land duet.
Therefore, fans theorised that the impromptu performance from last night was a make-up gesture.
One viewer said on X: "Ryan Gosling let Emma Stone sing. We didn't get an Oscar live performance of La La Land in 2017."
And another remarked: "Okay i now forgive Emma Stone & Ryan Gosling for passing on performing City of Scars at the 2017 Oscars."
I echo those sentiments. But maybe go an extra step and make a sequel?
Pretty please!
