Simon Pegg recreates classic film scene in response to Tom Cruise and fans can't get over one specific thing

It's a brilliant scene, but don't expect a sequel to the movie

Simon Pegg has come a long way from the days of Spaced where he was ranting in children's faces about how The Phantom Menace is terrible and doing a spot of Robot Wars roleplay.

If you're British, then you surely know about The Cornetto Trilogy and the movie that kicked it all off, Shaun of the Dead.

To be honest, it's near impossible not to have seen the film if you've got a TV that shows ITV2 since it's always on there.

You'll certainly know the iconic scene where Shaun goes to the shop, which then gets repeated once the zombie apocalypse has kicked off, even if our dear protagonist hasn't quite noticed yet.

A couple of years ago, Pegg returned to the scene of the scene and decided to pay homage to something Tom Cruise had done.

The Mission Impossible star (Cruise, not Pegg since they're both in the films), had told people to 'have a very safe and happy holiday' as well as thanking them for watching Top Gun: Maverick.

Of course, this being Tom Cruise he did it while jumping out of a helicopter in the middle of shooting a Mission Impossible movie.

Pegg told viewers of his video he couldn't think of any way to do his own version of this, so he'd go over the road and buy a Cornetto.

Naturally, the joke is that Pegg's Christmas message was a near-perfect homage to the scene from Shaun of the Dead, and viewers especially loved the bit where he tripped up on the kerb.

Just seeing the street again was setting off people's nostalgia as Pegg strolled down Nelson Road and stumbled on the kerb just as Shaun had done back in the 2004 movie.

Fans said they 'knew you'd stumble over the kerb' as soon as they started watching the video.

It's such a beloved movie that naturally people were asking Pegg whether he'd ever consider doing a sequel or revisiting Shaun years later in some capacity.

However, in the past Pegg has said fans need to 'move on' from the idea of doing sequels to The Cornetto Trilogy.

In an interview with The Guardian last year he said: "If I ever do an Instagram Live or whatever, people are always like, ‘I need Shaun of the Dead 2 in my life’.

"And I’m like, ‘No, you don’t f**king need Shaun of the Dead 2! The last thing you need is Shaun of the Dead 2! It’s done. Move on!"
