Speaking at the recent PokerStars European Poker Tour in Monte-Carlo, global superstar and PokerStars ambassador Neymar admitted he would like to face David Beckham in a heads up battle on the poker table.
"I would like to face David Beckham, I think Beckham is a guy that must play and he must be smart," said Neymar. When asked why, the Brazilian joked "I think he is very pretty, so I want to star at him too".
Neymar's biggest live win on the poker table came when he finished sixth-placed in a Brazilian Series of Poker where he earned himself $21,072. His latest live cash came in the Pokerstars European Poker Tour where he finished 55th and went home with €5,620.
Neymar isn't the only footballer that has won money at a PokerStars European Poker Tour as Gerard Pique and Arturo Vidal took home a combined €487,410 during the 2019 tournament in Barcelona.
The 30-year-old made his first ever in-person appearance at the 2022 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. The World Series of Poker is the biggest annual poker tournament with a plethora of events for poker players to win, all aiming for a prestigious World Series of Poker bracelet.
Unfortunately for Neymar, he wasn't as successful at the tables as he has been on the football pitch as he was knocked out early in the tournament.
The PSG superstar has admitted that when he calls an end to his illustrious footballing career, a move to the poker tables permanently could be on the cards. "I'm a competitive guy who likes to win anything and you have a chance of winning a trophy in tournament poker," admits Neymar. "I think the thrill of the tournament is great, whether you're low on chips or whether you have a lot.
