Fans of upcoming video game Grand Theft Auto VI have been sent into a frenzy after the release date for the hugely anticipated product 'leaked'.
GTA 6 is set to be the biggest video game release since its predecessor, which was released some 11 years ago now. Way to make us feel old.
The first trailer for the game dropped in December 2023, with 'coming 2025' the only confirmation we officially have had as to when we can expect it.
12 months is a long time, with Rockstar spending the first eight months of 2024 giving no further hint as to when we might expect it to drop.

But fans of the GTA franchise over on Reddit have been left giddy after spotting a key detail on the official Grand Theft Auto VI IMDb page.
Appearing on there has been a release date which, after being clocked by the average Joe, was swiftly removed. Next to where it says 'release date' on the details section of the GTA 6 page, people browsing the page reported seeing a date of 27 October, 2025.
Numerous screenshots of it were taken, see for yourself:

While some fans were losing it over the date, others were taking it with a pinch of salt.
"I doubt they have a date yet internally. My guess would be September to maximise holiday sales," one Redditor posted.
Another noted a specific release date means nothing for Rockstar, writing: "GTA is one of those games where it can release anytime of the year it wants and people will buy it no matter what. Rockstar isn’t restricted by holidays unlike other companies."
The general consensus was that even if it wasn't the exact date, the general time period sounds about right given the release dates of past GTA games.

"In my opinion, a potential release date could be 29 October as a reference to Vice City, which was released on that same date in 2002," one said.
Pretty much every GTA game since Grand Theft Auto 2 has been released in or around October.
We're talking GTA II, GTA III, GTA Vice City, GTA San Andreas, and a number of expansion packs including The Ballad of Gay Tony. So in terms of the production timescale, it could be very much on the money.
