It has been almost 18 months now since GTA 6 was first announced by Rockstar Games. But with no release date in sight, the parent company behind the release has finally given a reason why we're still waiting for the hugely sought after date.
Video game company Take-Two Interactive, which owns Rockstar, confirmed to fans that GTA 6 was coming all the way back in December 2023, and 15 months on we are seemingly still no closer to finding out when it will drop on consoles. Or even when we'll get a second trailer.
The gaming series is one of the most popular history, but it has been the source of many memes given that the last version was released all the way back in 2013.
Any time anything out of the ordinary happens on the internet these days, there's always someone who comments 'wow we really got [insert internet thing] before GTA 6' and frankly it's becoming exhausting.

There have been plenty of guesses and hints on when the game, which will be set in 'Vice City', will drop but until we have it from the horse's mouth we cannot say for sure when people will finally be able to play the eagerly-anticipated sixth game in the series.

However, given the leaked price of the game, many may even be willing to wait longer for a sale, or just a special occasion, until they can finally pick up a copy.
With fans demanding answers from the developers, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has finally given us an update, but it seems as if he is keen to continue building 'anticipation and excitement' by keeping gamers in the dark.
He said: "We found that the better thing to do is to provide marketing materials relatively close to the release window in order to create that excitement on the one hand and balance the excitement with unmet anticipation.

"I don't always get it right, but that's what we're trying to do."

It makes sense on one hand that keeping the release date quiet is only making fans more excited for when it does finally come, but at the same time it's been so long since the initial announcement that, frankly, people might forget.
Rockstar Games has confirmed a vague Autumn 2025 release window for Grand Theft Auto VI, although an exact date remains unannounced.
As we've only just reached Spring, that gives Take-Two plenty of time to refine things ready for the perfect release, as you wouldn't want them to rush out an unfinished product.

Hopefully, fans aren't made to wait too much longer until they can officially mark a date in the calendars, where they can probably prepare to take some annual leave or even call off sick if you want to truly embrace the GTA mindset.
