A new clip for the widely anticipated Don’t Worry Darling just dropped, and Harry Styles’ has already found himself on the receiving end of some hilarious jokes about his accent. You can watch the clip below:
Don’t Worry Darling is a psychological thriller set in the 1950s, it follows Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, who play a young married couple, Jack and Alice, who move to an 'experimental community' in California.

The film, which is set to release in the UK on 23 September, has been the subject of a great deal of attention over the last year. Principally because of Styles’ role in the film, a matter which Florence Pugh said herself is 'the nature of hiring the most famous pop star in the world'.
But also, because the film is where Harry met his current partner, Olivia Wilde, who also happens to be the movie's director.
However, now a new clip has dropped, and people are up in arms about Harry’s bizarre accent.

In the clip, the pair are shown to be in an argument about Jack’s job, which he claims Alice is putting 'at risk'.
But despite Harry’s undeniably heated performance, fans are instead having a blast mocking his accent. While some are set on the opinion he just can’t act, others are still trying to work out whether he’s meant to be British or American.
One person said on a Tiktok video of the clip: “He should go on Hollyoaks cause it gives the same energy as Curtis and AJ Pritchard.”
The comment references an unbelievable (as in, so bad you literally won’t believe it) performance from the two actors on Hollyoaks last year, which quickly became meme material.
Meanwhile, another said: “Uh yeah, he should stick with singing…”

Unfortunately for Harry, another also asked: “Is he English or American in this or neither I’m confused.”
And to be fair, his jump from the seemingly Northern 'oppah-tunatie' to an almost New Yorker 'our life' makes the intended accent unclear.
Although, some fans were quick to jump to his defence, one said: “I feel like he is a good actor it just seems like he isn’t cuz the accent.”
Someone else added: “Y’all it’s a twenty second clip, that cannot determine whether he’s a good actor or not. Also, this isn’t bad acting at all??? Confusion???”

But good actor or not, nobody can deny it’s tough to unsee the Hollyoaks comparison of AJ Pritchard’s “What’id mum say”.
And as for the rest, we’ll have to wait to see on 23 September.
