Jack Whitehall became emotional as he shared the reason why he wanted to have a child while his dad is still around.
The comedian and actor, 34, announced earlier this month that he is expecting his first child with his partner, Roxy Horner.
Whitehall’s dad is author, producer and television personality Michael Whitehall, 80, and the pair have starred in several projects together, including the incredibly popular travel series, Jack Whitehall: Travels with My Father.

Before becoming a dad himself later this year, Whitehall recently guest starred on Steven Bartlett’s The Diary of a CEO podcast where he made an emotional confession about his dad.
The Dragon’s Den star asked if his dad is proud of his son, to which Whitehall said both his dad and mum are proud and still come to his shows and watch him on TV.
Whitehall confessed he still tries to impress his Dad, who is ‘very honest’ and will ‘cut through everything and be very honest with me’.

Whitehall explained: “The other thing that we haven’t really touched upon and something that is very present in my mind with all of this, in terms of having a baby, in terms of trying to achieve as much as I can in my career is that I want to do all of it with him around and obviously I know that that’s not going to be the case forever and so… that’s why.”
The Fresh Meat star then chokes up on his words and says he ‘wasn’t going to do this’ as tears fill his eyes.
“I wanted to have a baby because I wanted him to be around to know my child and to spend time with my kid.”

Whitehall continued: “Seeing how amazing he is with my niece, he’s the most loving person ever, so I want him to have a relationship with my kid.
"And then I wanna do all of these things and have success in my career that I can share with him and he can see these things and enjoy them.
“I love having him there for all of that and so yeah, I do still think a lot about impressing him. He’s approval still means a hell of a lot to me.”

Bartlett was moved by Whitehall’s answer and said: “It’s such a beautiful thing. I admire that closeness you have with your father so much.”
This is so wholesome!
