Jamie Lynn Spears has shared a text message she says is from her sister Britney in which she claims the singer apologised for the very public feud that the pair have been embroiled in.
Writing in her book Things I Should Have Said, which was released today (18 January), Jamie Lynn said: “In a recent text from my sister, she stated herself: ‘I know it’s not your fault and I’m sorry for being so angry at you. Although I’m your big sister, I need you more than you need me and always have.'”
The spat between the two sisters – as you can probably guess – is all to do with Britney’s recently-ended conservatorship, which granted full control of Britney’s money to the pair’s father Jamie Spears for nearly 14 years.
As well as what she’s shared in her book, Jamie Lynn claims that other texts from Britney exonerate her from blame entirely, but we can’t know exactly what they are just yet.
All will be revealed once the second part of a podcast that Spears appeared on is released tomorrow (19 January).
Jamie Lynn turned out for the Call Her Daddy podcast to talk about Things I Should Have Said and told host Alexandra Cooper that she has texts that exonerate her from blame.
Cooper asked: “You have a text message that clears your name from your sister. Can you pull out your phone and read that recent text from Britney?”
Jamie then asked for her phone and started to read it before teasing ‘she says to me…’
It’s at that point that the screen goes black.
Obviously, we’ll just have to listen to the podcast to find out exactly what she’s on about.
It may very well be the same one from the book, or it could be something different entirely.
Either way, the ugly feud between Britney and Jamie Lynn has been played out very publicly indeed.
In a recent Instagram Story, the younger Spears sister reached out to the Toxic singer to ask her if they could stop their fight being played out for all to see.
She wrote: Britney — Just call me, I have attempted many times to speak to you directly and handle this privately like sisters should, but you still choose to do everything on a public platform.
"In the meantime, please stop continuing the narrative that I haven't been there for you or that I'm making things up. I'm happy to share how many times I've reached out to you, supported you and tried to help you.”
She went on to say that the fight was ‘embarrassing and has to stop’ before concluding: “Love you.”
Britney has complained about her sister being a ‘scum person’ for writing ‘crazy lies’ in the new book.
However, she’s since back-tracked on some of those stronger remarks and said she loves her sister ‘unconditionally’.
