Many responded to the post, expressing their condolences.
One person wrote: “I’ll never forget the day the news broke. I was 11 years old, and I ran outside and cried.”
Another fan said: “Your dad is a comic genius. I miss his talent. My favourite characters of his are Uncle Buck and Johnny LaRue from SCTV [Second City Television].”
A third lamented: “I remember his passing like it was yesterday. I was eight and it felt like a family member had died. He truly had a gift and is missed.”

Candy died, aged 43, on this day in 1994 from a presumed heart attack.
However, his official cause of death, according to coroners, has never been published publicly.
Twenty-nine years on, the comedian is remembered for notable roles in Cool Runnings, Planes Trains and Automobiles, Uncle Buck, Little Shop of Horrors, National Lampoon’s Vacation and Home Alone.

Earlier this year, Variety reported that Prime Video is releasing a documentary on the comedic genius.
Ryan Reynolds is said to be attached to the project, while Colin Hanks is set to direct the feature.
According to the outlet, the film will explore how the iconic funny man rose to fame beyond his improvisational troupe and ‘delve into the person he kept offscreen’.
The documentary will include never-before-seen home videos, archives and interviews with the family to explore the man behind the movie star.
