John Goodman shows off incredible weight loss on red carpet

John Goodman has been on a health and fitness kick for some years now, and The Big Lebowski star doesn't seem like it'll ever end

John Goodman has once again shown off his remarkable weight loss transformation, appearing on the red carpet at the 62nd Monte Carlo TV Festival in Monaco yesterday.

The 70-year-old made his name in TV before continuing his success in film, featuring in a broad variety of genres and films, working in both live-action and animation along the way.

Who could forget his performance in the Coen brothers’ cult classic The Big Lebowski, for example?

Well, Goodman has been hard at work off the screen, too.

In fact, since he made the decision to start being a bit healthier, he’s dropped around 200lbs, which is no mean feat for anyone.

Now, appearing on the red carpet for the festival in the Mediterranean principality, he looked a million bucks.

He’s serving as the jury president for the festival, and wore a snappy suit for the occasion, as well as a pink tie.

On the decision to appoint Goodman, festival head honcho Laurent Puons said: “John Goodman is, quite frankly, a legend,

“My grandson loves him, my mother loves him and I love him.

“He’s crossed several generations with a phenomenal film career, and a phenomenal television career. He’s done it all, played every role.

“If he wasn’t leading the jury, we’d give him our lifetime achievement award.”

Man, it must be nice to hear someone talk about you like that.

Anyway, John’s weight loss journey has been well documented over the years, starting in 2007 when he adopted a new lifestyle, ditching drinking for personal training sessions, as well as changing to a ‘Mediterranean-style eating plan’.

He’ll find plenty of that down in that part of the world, anyway.

As well as that, he exercises six days per week, making sure to hit between 10,000 and 12,000 steps, too.

Speaking to radio host Howard Stern in 2016, Goodman explained: “I took it slow. I just wanted to change my lifestyle,

“It's an ongoing process for the rest of my life.

“You look in the mirror everyday and go, ‘I gotta deal with this the rest of the day, I gotta deal with this schmuck?’”

In another interview, he told ABC: “In the old days, I would take three months out, lose 60 or 70 pounds, and then reward myself with a six-pack or whatever and just go back to my old habits.

On his decision to drop the alcohol, he said: “All that anger was fuelled by fear, and the drinking was because it was fun.

“But I was probably born an alcoholic. But most of the anger’s gone.

“If I don’t watch the news, I’m cool.”

Whatever he’s doing, it’s clearly worked. He’s in great shape.
