The actor was perhaps best known for her long-term role of Dot Cotton in EastEnders.
Brown was reported to be offered £300,000 for a one year contract on the BBC drama in 2017.

After serving in the Women’s Royal Naval Service at the end of WWII, Brown left to train at London’s Old Vic Theatre School in Lambeth.

The veteran soap star arrived on Albert Square shortly after EastEnders began in the mid-80s and, apart from a break between 1993 and 1997, went on to be a beloved regular for more than three decades.
