Kaleb Cooper launches bursary to help others get into farming

Kaleb Cooper launches bursary to help others get into farming

The Clarkson's Farm star has launched a new fund, which will help students from non-farming backgrounds

Kaleb Cooper has launched a new bursary to help young people get into farming.

The Clarkson's Farm star announced the bursary on his Instagram page, which will provide up to £3,000 to those wanting to pursue a career in agriculture.

While the 24-year-old might be happier than a pig in mud over the new scheme, there is still trouble down at the farm.

Earlier this year, Prime Video cancelled Clarkson’s Farm after a controversial column by lead star, Jeremy Clarkson.

The former Top Gear host received a huge backlash after he made horrific comments about Meghan Markle in an article for The Sun.

He even said that Markle should be ‘paraded naked’ through the streets and have ‘excrement’ thrown at her.

Despite the TV personality making a public apology, Prime Video decided to cut ties with Clarkson and the much-loved show will end after the third series.

While his time at Diddly Squat Farm might nearly be over, Clarkson's right-hand man Cooper has been making the most of his newfound fame and has been working with the Royal Agricultural University (RAU) on the new bursary.

Named after the famous farmer, the new funding will help those from non-farming backgrounds get into the industry.

Announcing the news on his Instagram yesterday (12 May), Cooper told his 1.8 million followers: “It means a lot to me to share this announcement today. I truly believe Agriculture is for anybody no matter your background and having come from a non-farming family myself I want to encourage others with the passion and determination to pursue their career within the industry.”

It was also announced that students can apply for the financial support from this September and will have the opportunity to do a placement with Cooper, or one of his colleagues.

In a separate press release, the young farmer also explained how meaningful the bursary was for him.

“Farming is who I am. Encouraging the younger generation into agriculture has always been so important to me,” he said in a statement.

Cooper also revealed that he’d known he’d wanted to be a farmer as kid, despite not growing up on a farm himself.

He told the press: “I feel lucky that I knew my path from such an early age and want to help spread that passion and drive. Launching this bursary means so much, as it can support students who want to pursue an agricultural career or who might be struggling to get into farming.”

It seems Cooper has grabbed the bull by the horns, even with the beloved Prime Video show coming to an end.
