Keeley Hawes has been one the leading British television actors of the 21st century, starring in major successes including; Spooks, Line of Duty and Bodyguard.
Her latest project is The Midwich Cuckoos, a Sky Max series beginning on 3rd June, based on John Wyndham’s 1953 novel of the same name. The basic premise of the series is an Alien encounter which impregnates every woman of child-bearing age, and let’s just say those kids don’t grow up to be harmless.
Wyndham’s novel has been adapted for the screen on a number of occasions; in both 1960 and 1995 the story was used for a film, with the title Village of the Damned on both occasions. Hawes’ character, Dr Zellaby, is gender swapped from the original novel in which Zellaby was an elderly man. Hawes has been widely praised for her performance and the Evening Standard have given the series a 4 star rating.
