Lady Gaga has confirmed she will be starring in Joker: Folie à Deux
The singer and actor posted a teaser on her social media accounts that revealed she has been cast in the film that's slated for release in October 2024.
It's not yet known what role she's landed, however there have been rumours for weeks that she's set to play Harley Quinn.

The teaser she posted seriously leans into that theory as it shows a female character together with Joaquin Phoenix's Arthur Fleck.
Considering the only love interest the Joker has in the DC Comics is Harley Quinn, it's a safe bet that that is who Gaga will be playing.
However, it's worth noting that the term 'love interest' is very one-sided as the Joker in the comics doesn't really reciprocate Harley's feelings and the pair are in a toxic and abusive relationship.

That role has been played by Margot Robbie in the past, however Gaga's new look Quinn would operate in a different universe to the Aussie actor's.
Joker and Quinn meet at the Arkham Asylum, where Harley acts as the villain's psychotherapist. She soon becomes entranced by the prisoner and joins him on his quest for madness and mayhem.
At the end of Joker, we saw Arthur Fleck (Phoenix) inside Arkham State Hospital before he makes his daring escape.
The Wrap reports Joker: Folie à Deux will be largely set in Arkham Asylum, so we could get to see how these two cement their relationship.

Folie à deux is a French term that means 'the shared madness of two'.
There have also been rumours that Joker 2 will be a musical, according to The Hollywood Reporter
Joker director Todd Phillips, who has signed on to direct the sequel, produced the critically acclaimed musical A Star Is Born, which also starred Lady Gaga.

So he's no stranger to making a hit movie with loads of singing sections.
Deadline reports the highly-anticipated sequel will drop on 4 October 2024, which will be five years after the original.
The news outlet says production is expected to get underway in December this year and then it'll be a long road of editing, post-production and a likely huge press tour.
It sounds like the sequel will be very different to the dark and gritty original so it will be interesting to see if it can live up to the hype of the 2019 film.
