The bassist and a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec John Such, has died at the age of 70.
Earlier today, Bon Jovi announced that Such, who served as the band’s bassist from 1983 to 1994, had passed away, writing: “Alec, you will be missed.”
The legendary rocker also went on to describe Such as a true ‘original’ and ‘integral’ to the formation of the band.

He wrote: “We are heartbroken to hear the news of the passing of our dear friend Alec John Such. He was an original. As a founding member of Bon Jovi, Alec was integral to the formation of the band.
“To be honest we found our way to each other through him - He was a childhood friend of Tico and brought Richie to see us perform.”
The singer also added that thinking back on the band’s early days makes him emotional merely thinking about.

He added: “Alec was always wild and full of life. Today those special memories bring a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. We’ll miss him dearly.”
No details yet on what caused the musician’s death, but many took to Twitter to express their grievances about the loss.
One person wrote: “Aww man RIP. Time to listen to some Bon Jovi again.”
Another said: “So sad! My heart goes out to my Bon Jovi community! He was an original founding member!”

A third person wrote: “So sad to hear of the passing of Alec, always a big fan of his playing and what he gave the band live. RIP.”
While another commented: “This is so sad. Alec was an absolute sweetheart to my friends and I - will never forget that. Sometimes your childhood heroes turn out to be really great human beings. RIP Alec you legend.”
The Guardian reports that the bassist left the band in 1994; however, he rejoined the band for their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.

At the induction, Such recalled: “When Jon Bon Jovi called me up and asked me to be in his band many years ago, I soon realised how serious he was and he had a vision that he wanted to bring us to.
“And I am only too happy to have been a part of that vision.”
