Lewis Capaldi randomly rings up girl who bought his new single and it doesn't go as expected

Lewis Capaldi was left shocked after a girl who bought his new single put the phone down on him after he called her.

Lewis Capaldi rang up a girl who had downloaded his new single to say thank you, and her reaction is not what you'd expect.

The 'Scottish Beyoncé' has just made a huge come back to music, with the recently released 'Pointless' and 'Forget Me' - with that iconic music video.

Fans are overjoyed with Capaldi's return so as a thank you, the singer himself decided to ring one lucky fan who had bought 'Pointless'.

The singer filmed himself ringing a fan named Lily, although the exchange didn't quite go to plan. Watch below:

Things really didn't go as you'd expect; think a die-hard fan going crazy over a celebrity ringing them up - well - it's the complete opposite of that.

In the short 26-second clip, Capaldi said: "Right, calling people who have downloaded my new single to thank them - this is Lily.

"Come on Lily, answer the phone to me," he adds.

The fan then eventually answers the phone and Capaldi asks if it is Lily, to which she says yes.

Capaldi then asks: "Lily, who is your favourite singer," but instead of answering, she immediately hangs up, leaving Capaldi a bit disappointed.

Not the heartwarming moment Capaldi would have been hoping for when he rang the fan.

He adds: "Oh she hung up, obviously it must be Ed Sheeran," the singer joked.

With a caption for the tweet, Capaldi wrote: "A humbling experience x."

He also added in the comments: "Thank u SO SO much to all of ya downloading ‘pointless’ on Amazon and iTunes by the way means the world."

Capaldi also said to send him screenshots of fans listening to his new song, and you never know, he might be ringing you next! Just don't put the phone down on him, eh.

People have been reacting to the tweet in the comments, with many wishing that it was them being called by Capaldi instead.

One person said: "Call me I’ll answer," while a second added: "I’m available now Lewis."

Other fans wished it was Capaldi ringing them.

Meanwhile, a third said: "I’d do the same thing."

Plus, a fourth fan remarked: "Wooooowwwwww! Imagine getting that call. I’d be so annoyed if I’d put the phone down."

2023 is set to be a big year for Capaldi, which will see him release his second album, Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent, and also tour the UK and Europe.

Some of the UK dates include Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Liverpool, Glasgow and Cardiff.
