There are plenty of movies to bash on Netflix. However, this new release has been called 'straight up garbage', while simultaneously rising to the top of the charts. Check out the trailer for the divisive movie below:
So, if you're wondering what to watch this weekend, look no further because Interceptor starring Elsa Pataky and Luke Bracey is here, and it's seemingly dividing viewers.
The film was released on 3 June and has just about scrapped 45% on Rotten Tomatoes' Tomatometer, with a 23% audience score.
While that might be enough to put anyone off of watching, the synopsis and trailer combo seemed to draw people in, as the film's now claimed the top stop on Netflix.
So, what's the film about?
Well, Interceptor follows, you guessed it, an interceptor: "Meet the world's last defence. One Army captain [Pataky] must use her years of tactical training and military expertise when a simultaneous coordinated attack threatens the remote missile interceptor station she is in command of." Cue a series of increasingly improbable action scenes.
Still, people didn't seem to take to kindly to these scenes, or any others for that matter, with viewers taking to Twitter to air their grievances.
One user wrote: "That Interceptor movie on Netflix straight up garbage lol."
With another adding: "Just when I thought Iron Eagle was the worst military-inspired movie of all time tonight I’m trapped in Interceptor and regardless of how long I extend it to grab each additional pint of Guinness IT JUST GETS WORSE."
A third said: "Interceptor on Netflix is unarguably the worst movie I have ever seen What was that for real? I finna start writing scripts too."
Another was surprised at how high the movie had ranked, adding: "@netflix Please there is no way Interceptor is #1. Why did you do this? Who did this? Omg my eyes and ears."
Others noticed a pretty unexpected cameo in the film: "I think Chris Hemsworth cameo in Interceptor is him laughing at how bad this film is. He must have been pissing himself with laughter. They told him to make a comedy then Netflix said actually this is a serious movie..."
However, others loved the film: "Interceptor on Netflix was amazing. I don’t get the hate. It made my 80s/90s action-movie-loving-heart SING. One liners, someone killed via eye ball, star with a crazy thick accent for no good reason… this movie had it all. I literally laughed and cheered out loud."
Love or hate the movie, Interceptor has got people talking and let's be honest we're all probably going to watch it by the end of the week.
