The Masked Singer recently returned to ITV, leaving fans puzzled over the ambiguous clues the celebrities provide.
The popular singing show sees celebrities dressing up in larger-than-life costumes and performing popular songs to a panel of judges who try to work out who is indeed “behind the mask”.
The reality show is based on the South Korean show King of Mask Singer, which has since spread across the globe and has at last reached our shores.
Who is Mushroom on The Masked Singer?
With four stars already having their identities revealed on the show, there are fewer contestants left to decipher before the winner of The Masked Singer 2021 can be revealed. One of those contestants is hiding behind “Mushroom”, but who could it be?
The mother-nature type character captured the audience with their cover of “It’s Oh So Quiet by Björk, while Mushroom sang with a strong Irish accent.
The character was, however, shown to have a Northern accent while speaking in the VT, while they revealed hints about their line of work, which is supposedly a serious one.
They also said that they like to try new things, while holding onto a judge’s gavel, which could suggest their job role is of a judge.
Viewers at home took to Twitter to make their guesses, one of which was comedian Aisling Bea.
Others thought that the half green-half Mushroom figure could be one of the Derry Girls’ actors, due to their prevalent Irish singing accent. Some thought that it could be Siobhán McSweeney, specifically, the actor that plays Sister Michael in the show.
Elsewhere, viewers thought that Mushroom could be Pauline McLynn, the Irish actor who plays Mrs Doyle in Father Ted.
