Avicii's girlfriend has revealed the final words he said to her before his death in Muscat, Oman in April 2018.

The DJ died by suicide after struggling with fame and the pressures of touring, which took a significant toll on his mental health.

Details of the artist's life and final days were revealed in a documentary about the artist, released this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, while the Swede's final call to his family also recently surfaced.

Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, was described by his family to have 'shunned the spotlight', as he was very much an introvert who didn't enjoy the fame and attention his music attracted.

After his breakout single, 'Levels', topped charts all over the world in 2011, the artist was subject to a life of minimal privacy, which was an increasing weight on his shoulders.

Following the 28-year-old's passing, it was revealed that the Swedish artist had a secret girlfriend, Tereza Kacerova, who spoke up about why their relationship was kept from the public.

The social media influencer and model said that she didn't want 'any part' of the musician's fame, revealing that they only planned to go public if they got pregnant.

Kacerova spoke about the last time she saw Bergling, in a heartfelt open letter posted to Instagram the month after his death.

She said: “The last words you ever said to me were, ‘I love you’.

“Well, I LOVE YOU…”

The model then referenced a personal memory involving Coca-Cola, adding: “As much as you love Mexican Coke… and then some.”

The model, who has a son from a previous relationship, revealed that she found comfort in going to the Swede's home on the day of his death, saying that she wanted to 'feel you around me'.

“I lay under your shower for ages and when I came out and turned into the bedroom, you weren’t waiting for me,” she emotionally wrote.

Kacerova also said that she took some of the 'Wake Me Up' artist's bedding to feel like he was still there, saying: “I took all your sheets and pillows and comforter and even the mattress cover home, so that I could sleep in them, surrounded by the smell of you.”

Following Avicii's death, his family released a statement that mourned his death, translated from Swedish.

“Our beloved Tim was a seeker, a fragile artistic soul searching for answers to existential questions,” they wrote.

“An over-achieving perfectionist who travelled and worked hard at a pace that led to extreme stress.

“When he stopped touring, he wanted to find a balance in life to be happy and be able to do what he loved most – music,” it read.

The statement went on: “He really struggled with thoughts about Meaning, Life, Happiness. He could not go on any longer. He wanted to find peace.

“Tim was not made for the business machine he found himself in; he was a sensitive guy who loved his fans but shunned the spotlight.

“Tim, you will forever be loved and sadly missed. The person you were and your music will keep your memory alive. We love you, your family.”
