Oasis have announced the first supporting act that'll be with them for every date of their reunion tour across the UK and Ireland next year.

There have been plenty of rumours about who'll be getting up on stage with Noel and Liam Gallagher next year and the first guaranteed name has been confirmed.

If you've been following the musical rumour mill then it probably won't come as much of a surprise to you as it's the one everybody's been talking about.

Oasis took to social media to announce that The Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft would be a 'very special guest' joining the band 'for all UK and Ireland Oasis Live '25 shows'.

He's a longtime friend of the Gallaghers and The Verve opened for Oasis during the 90s, while Ashcroft also played gigs with Liam during his later solo career.

Noel Gallagher once called Ashcroft a 'genius', so it really does make a good deal of sense that he'd come along for the ride.

Ashcroft said in a statement: "As a fan from day one, I was buzzing for many reasons when the news of Oasis’s return was announced.

“I can say with no exaggeration that the song-writing talent of Noel, and Liam’s pure spirit as a lead singer helped to inspire me to create some of my best work.

"It was the perfection of Live Forever that forced me to try and write my own.

"They dared to be great, made the dreams we had real and I will always remember those days with joy.

"Now it’s time to create more memories and I’m ready to bring it. See you next summer. Music is power."

It's wonderful news for music fans and everyone involved seems absolutely chuffed that he's going to be part of the Oasis reunion tour.

Comments such as 'this is mega' and 'AAAAAHHH SO HAPPY' would appear to indicate that this has gone down very well with Oasis fans.

The only people who don't seem overjoyed with this are those unfortunate souls who weren't able to get a ticket to see the Oasis reunion.

There aren't any more tour dates coming so those who have missed out on tickets are wishing even more that they could be there.

There'll be more announcements to come for future Oasis supporting acts, and Richard Ashcroft is just one of the performers who'll be with them for their sell-out shows.

We'll all just have to sit tight and wait for the next announcements to find out who they are.
