Glastonbury viewers were left baffled by SZA’s weird ‘special guest’ as she got ‘one of the lowest headline crowds’.
After Dua Lipa brought out Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker on Friday (28 June) and Coldplay had the likes of Little Simz and legend Michael J Fox, the American singer had something a little more unique join her on the Pyramid Stage.
The Grammy-winning hit maker headlined the final coveted Glastonbury slot last night but fans were disappointed by a noticeably smaller audience for her set.

SZA performed hits like ‘I Hate U’ and ‘Kiss Me More’ as well as brandishing machetes for her banger ‘Kill Bill’ and climbing up a large fallen tree trunk before ‘Rich Baby Daddy’ - her collab with Drake and Sexyy Red.
But for her ballad ‘Drew Barrymore’ she took the fantastical and nature theme of her set a little further.
The 34-year-old had only performed with this set once before (the previous night at London’s BST Hyde Park) and it featured a huge insect.

Yep, a giant ant joined her up on stage at Glastonbury - like the kind of thing you might see at the zoo and sit on for an obligatory photo.
And SZA even sat on her’s too as she sang the track which fans on X said they were ‘loving’.
One joked: “The ant from Honey I Shrunk the Kids is looking well.”
Another wrote: “When you’ve been clearing the garden path of ants in the afternoon.”

Someone even commented: “SZA on that ant makes me want to be an ant,” while others called it ‘weird’.
Many fans simply called her ‘the ant queen’ and said: “The giant ant. Oh she’s TAKING IT.”
Following her impressive set at Glastonbury which fans called a ‘MFin SHOW’ and ‘amazing’, SZA wrote on Instagram: “Tonight I faced my fears. Tonight my entire team made the impossible possible!!”

Moments before her performance began, viewers at home noted that she had drawn ‘one of the lowest’ crowds they had ‘ever seen for a Pyramid Headliner’.
Users on Reddit and X said it’s ‘quite a big difference’ to last year as they called it ‘a shame’ as many festival-goers had left early to beat the traffic home.
One user speculated: “She is one of the most streamed artists in the world and is amazing, but didn’t quite have the universal appeal of a pyramid headliner yet.”
Well, here’s to another year of Glastonbury completed - ants and all.
