Netflix has released a new horror series and it's left viewers furious thanks to the major twist at the end (which we won't spoil, don't worry). You can watch the trailer here:
Archive 81 follows archivist Dan Turner (played by Mamoudou Athie), who takes a job restoring a collection of damaged videotapes from 1994.
Reconstructing the work of a documentary filmmaker named Melody Pendras (played by Dina Shihabi), he is drawn into her investigation of a dangerous cult at the Visser apartment building.
The horror series landed on Netflix on 14 January and has been compared to a combination of The Blair Witch Project, Midsommar and Frequency.
Dan slowly finds himself obsessing over what happened to Melody and the pair form a mysterious connection with Dan believing he can save her from something that happened 25 years ago.
And that is all we shall share.
Taking to Twitter, the viewers that have finished the eight-part series have responded to the finale with outrage.
One wrote/shouted: "WHAT THE F**K WAS THAT ENDING OF ARCHIVE 81?"
While another said: "Oh my god. That ending of #Archive81. That is the most haunting way to end a show. 10/10. Gotta say, Mamoudou Athie gave an incredible performance!"
A third said: "Archive 81 ending... JAIL." Bold.
Someone else added: "Very intriguing and interesting. #Archive81 is a MUST-watch! Great performances by @dinashihabi
and Mamoudou Athie. The ending blew my mind."
People are asking for a second season to be created while others think it could be left as it is. One was in the middle, saying: "Finished #Archive81 and thoroughly enjoyed it. Love that the ending could be an ending but also leaves the story open for a 2nd season."
However, not everyone was happy with the way they left things. Someone wrote: "Don't watch Archive81. Haven't seen an ending fall apart so hard since the Game of Thrones finale. What a waste of time. I'm so angry lol."
In agreement, another said: "#Archive81 is.... pretty bad. The ending is terribly weak and it made me mourn the wasted time I spent watching the series."
If you are about to watch the series, it's worth passing on a warning from people not to watch it late at night.
One fan tweeted: "Archive 81 man I’m telling ya don’t watch it at night yall stay safe."
Another wrote: “Watching Archive 81 immediately before going to bed may not have been the wisest choice."
Archive 81 is available on Netflix now.
