With eight hour-long episodes making up the series, the Brazilian drama features Rômulo Braga, Maeve Jinkings, and Thomás Aquino.
Netflix’s synopsis reads: “After a robbery of epic proportions at a securities insurance company in Ciudad del Este, Paraguay, federal police officers from the Foz do Iguaçu police station, in Brazil, undertake an unprecedented investigation.
“Following the trail of DNA samples collected, they discover a thread that connects the robbery in the neighbouring country with other recent crimes and uncover an even bigger plan involving criminals from both countries.

"So proud of my first Brazilian police action series. Criminal Code is renewed for a 2nd season,” the translation of the tweet reads.
Users previously tweeted they’d ‘binged the whole eight episodes in a day and a half’ and called it the ‘best heist series since Money Heist’.
"Criminal Code, the Brazilian police-gangster serial on Netflix is just awesome. As good as Narcos!" someone else said.

Plenty call it ‘worth watching’ and ‘great TV’.
The Direct reckons a second season could see the creative team ‘going off-book’ with more fictional events.
It suspects: “Towards the end of Season 1, it was hinted that Guilherme was keeping a close eye on the day-to-day activities of the series' detective team, as his arrest may prove to be part of The Organization's plan all along.
"If that is the case, Season 2 could see Guilherme passing info back to his criminal overlords, with the federales wondering how their foes are always one step ahead of them, and allowing these criminals to continue to wreak havoc over Paraguay."
Criminal Code is now streaming on Netflix.
