The latest Netflix obsession recently landed and people are already hooked on its every detail.
Following the success of Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan created a new series looking at a pair of killers.
Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story released on Netflix last week and fans have already been praising its ‘perfect casting’ and particularly ‘disturbing’ episodes.

But they’ve also been spotting supposed ‘time travel mistakes’ as well as noticing details like Erik putting lemon on his food. And he claimed there was a harrowing reason behind that.
The true-crime show follows the high-profile case of the Menendez family back in 1989 when the brothers were convicted of murdering their parents, José and Mary Louise Menendez.
Monsters looks at the events surrounding the fatal shootings but also the infamous court case itself. And with clips from that going viral on TikTok, users have pointed out the moment Erik discussed his use of lemon during his testimony.

The brothers alleged years of emotional, physical and sexual abuse as their motive for the murders while prosecutors argued they only did it to get a share if the family fortune.
While Erik testified about that the alleged sexual abuse he suffered from José, he said the lemon had something to do with it.
He explained he would essentially ‘drown his food in lemon’ to diminish his sense of taste. Erik claimed it was so he ‘wouldn’t have to taste his dad’s…’ but was prompted to go no further with that.

The brother also added that no matter how much he used he noticed it didn’t totally work in cutting back what he could taste.
He also added that his mum would keep him stocked up with lemon and despite it being a ‘family joke’ that he would cover his food with it, no one ever asked why.
Following the release of the new Netflix series, Erik has now called out the show and Murphy for telling ‘blatant lies’ in the story.

Released from prison, he said in a statement: "I believed we had moved beyond the lies and ruinous character portrayals of Lyle, creating a caricature of Lyle rooted in horrible and blatant lies rampant in the show.
"I can only believe they were done so on purpose. It is with a heavy heart that I say, I believe Ryan Murphy cannot be this naive and inaccurate about the facts of our lives so as to do this without bad intent."
He added: “To all those who have reached out and supported me. Thank you from the bottom of my heart."
