Netflix cut brutal Lizzo weight loss joke from Kevin Hart roast

It's claimed jokes went a little too far about a number of topics, including Lizzo's weight loss and the MeToo movement

Comedian Kevin Hart is known for some near the knuckle humour, and it seems several gags didn't make the cut for his latest Netflix special.

Called The Roast of Kevin Hart, the Netflix show included several brutal jokes which didn't make it to air.

Hart was joined by fellow comedy superstars including Pete Davidson, Chelsea Handler, Regina Hall, Draymond Green, Tony Hinchcliffe and Sheryl Underwood.

Several taboo topics were touched upon, including the MeToo movement and popstar Lizzo's recent weight loss, which she has been proudly documenting all of her hard work for online.

The comedians all took it in turn to roast Hart and each other.

There were also several surprise celebrity guests, including Tom Brady, Usher, Teyana Taylor, Lizzo herself, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Katt Williams, and sporting legends Venus and Serena Williams.

One of the comedy writers who wrote some of the gags for the show revealed a lot of the more ruthless remarks didn't get aired (whether that was due to time constraints or due to their nature isn't known.)

Writer Madison Sinclair told Variety after the show that one of the jokes included: “Lizzo broke barriers when she danced as a stripper in Hustlers, mostly because they weren’t properly enforced."

It references Lizzo's Hollywood role in the Hustlers movie back in 2019, alongside the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Constance Wu.

The singer seemed to be ok with it, as she shared a clip of her performance online with the caption: "Last night was too fun! Thank you to Netflix and Kevin Hart for having me, s/o to my krew of Kevins" after she took to the stage playing the flute, surrounded by short men dressed like the comedian, in a long-running dig at Hart's short stature.

“Kevin is one of the few comedians without a single allegation. When he found out about the #MeToo movement he was shocked. He was like, people are saying no to things?!” a second joke read.

One other roast featured Hart taking part in the highly controversial Riyadh Comedy festival last year, which was paid for by the Saudi government.

The zinger stated: “Kevin, I was so disappointed when you did the Riyadh Comedy Festival because on a human-rights level no one should be forced to listen to your comedy sober.”

NFL star Tom Brady was also keen to even the score, after Hart made several jokes previously about the football player's divorce from supermodel Gisele Bündchen.

Brady walked onstage, interrupting Hart, and said: “Jesus, do you ever shut the f*** up? All right, this won’t take long, because, as you guys know, I’m a busy man."

“But I do have a few words for you before I return to my affairs in Las Vegas... Oh, wait, I’m talking about affairs in Las Vegas. Was that off? Not supposed to talk about affairs in Vegas? I think I broke another rule,” he said.

It's a nod to a scandal involving Hart back in 2017, when footage of the comedian cheating with a model in Vegas was reportedly used an attempt to blackmail and extort him.

Hart made a public apology to his then-pregnant wife Eniko, who was also in the audience for the roast taping.
