Netflix viewers have been left stunned after watching ‘unsettling’ new documentary Escaping Twin Flames.
The three-part series centres on Twin Flames Universe, a controversial online community set up by Jeff and Shaleia Ayan, that promises to help its members find true love.
While the idea may sound pretty sweet, former members have since come out to speak up about the ‘nightmarish’ practices from the group.

According to Netflix: “Escaping Twin Flames reveals the nightmarish stories of manipulation and coercion within the organisation, including exclusive access to former members who recount how they were encouraged to stalk the supposed objects of their affection and manipulate their gender identities. The series also documents the efforts of family members to rescue their loved ones from Twin Flames.”
The show comes from filmmakers Cecilia Peck and Inbal B. Lessner, who previously worked on Seduced: Inside the NXIVM Cult.
The team spent three years researching Twin Flames Universe, while making the documentary series.

Escaping Twin Flames creators said: “We were flooded with messages from people who left high-control groups after releasing our series about the NXIVM cult, and the stories of the survivors and families impacted by Twin Flames Universe emerged as the most urgent to expose.
“Escaping Twin Flames is the result of a three-year investigation into the sophisticated recruitment and indoctrination techniques employed by the leaders of this online group. We are grateful to those who courageously entrusted us with their firsthand accounts and evidence.
"We made this series for them and for everyone who has been manipulated or coerced without knowing it.”
The three-parter landed on Netflix last week and has left viewers reeling.

Another wrote: “Is anyone else watching the docuseries Escaping Twin Flames on Netflix?
“Definitely worth the watch, it does a great job showcasing how modern cults work and how easy it can be to fall into their trap. Strongly recommend watching.”

A third commented: “Escaping Twin Flames is one of the worst cult documentaries I’ve ever seen, pure unsettling evil beyond belief. I need Jeff and Shaleia behind bars for what they did to those poor women.”
While someone else said: “Just watched Escaping Twin Flames about the cult started by, in my opinion, a raving narcissist Jeff Ayan.
Authorities seem powerless to shut down the cult because vulnerable people join willingly. It’s a shocking programme to watch."
Escaping Twin Flames is available on Netflix now.
